Kathakali is a traditional dance from Kerala. It is a one off the oldest traditional art form in India. This dance combines acting,music,costume and makeup. The dancers wear large, colourful costumes and heavy face makeup. The makeup takes many hours to complete. Each colour in the makeup has a special meaning. For the example, green represents good characters and red represents evil characters. Kathakali dancers use strong facial expressions and eye movements to show emotions. The performers train for many years. kathakali shows indian culture and history. It is both a dance and drama. Kathakali is not just a dance it is a beautiful combination of history,culture and storytelling.
